Katie Foley is a Nutrition Specialist and Personal Trainer. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Sciences through an ACEND accredited program, in conjunction with a minor in Psychology, from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and avidly competes as a bodybuilding athlete in the NPC. She specializes in Macro Nutrition Counselling and Strength and Conditioning Programming.
Katie has an extensive background of volunteer experience within food pantries, food co-ops and childhood nutrition education programs. She previously worked as a baker at her family’s diner for 10+ years where much of the food inventory was sourced from local farmers in the surrounding area.
Her education and experiences combine to form her viewpoint that on a health level, you need to look at the body as a whole system rather than fixating on one specific area to elicit optimal results.
“My philosophy rotates around three main points.
- Everything impacts each other. I can tell you what or how to eat, but if you do not correct poor sleep patterns, increase your activity level, or address the stress present in your life, it’s going to be much harder to elicit or maintain results.
- Sticking to the basics. This keeps things simple and straightforward. It makes a Nutrition or training program much more maintainable and easier to commit to long term.
- Taking your surroundings into consideration is crucial. You cannot follow a plan that includes foods or workout equipment that you do not have access to. And your immediate surroundings, meaning your household and your community are very important in developing a successful plan to ensure you have a support system and necessary resources.
We can work together to then identify any inhibiting factors within your surroundings that may cause you future problems in sticking to your plan.”
